Here you can browse beautiful artwork that is on display. In addition, the owner will work with local artists to create an individual piece if you desire.
We also love visiting the Lake Granbury Art Association. Not only are they located in a cool, historic building that used to be a gristmill, but they always have cool art on display from local artists. If you are lucky, you might even catch an artist in action inside the studio.
Live Performance-Granbury Opera House and Granbury Live
Another one of the fun things to do in Granbury, Texas is to see a live performance. You can choose to attend a live performance at either Granbury Opera House or Granbury Live. Both venues are conveniently located on the historic Granbury square.
The Granbury Opera House was originally built in 1886 before undergoing a $3.5 million dollar renovation in 2012. Today, the Granbury Opera House is an elegant venue with state-of-the-art technology, beautiful chandeliers, and a gorgeous curved staircase.
Even with all of the great updates, the designers did a great job of preserving the history of the building as well, like preserving the original limestone wall. People come from all over the metroplex to enjoy a performance at the theatre.
Be sure to check their schedule and plan your trip where you too can enjoy the great productions offered here.
Granbury Live is another live performance venue that you might want to check out. Granbury Live hosts a variety of live performers throughout the year.
They showcase singers, impersonators, bands, and comedians to name a few. Visit their website to view the calendar of upcoming performances.
Visit Wineries in Granbury
You know that I am a sucker for Texas wines. I mean, we have numerous posts about the Fredericksburg, TX wineries.
Well, Granbury is no exception to this rule. There are some really great wineries in Granbury that you should check out. Lucky for you, there are three wineries located right on the Granbury Square.
D’Vine Wine is a full production winery conveniently located right on the Granbury Square. We love that you can go to D’Vine Wine to do a fun tasting, enjoy a glass of wine, or even get a frozen wine cocktail.
They have a good variety of both sweet and dry wines and their associates are always willing to help you find a wine that you will love! We also love that you can create your own custom blend of wine and even add a personalized label to it. How fun is that?
The Granbury Square is also home to Bull Lion Ranch Wine Shop and Baron’s Creek Winery. We have not personally visited these wineries yet, but I hear they are pretty great! I’ll update this post as soon as we visit!
Just outside of town you will find Barking Rocks Vineyard and Winery, Pemberton Cellars, and Bluff Dale Vineyards.
Barking Rocks Vineyard has a great laid back vibe and serves up handcrafted wines made from grapes grown in the great state of Texas. They have a nice selection of wine and are not shy to help you find a variety that you will love.
You will find Pemberton Cellars Winery just outside of Granbury on Lipan Highway. They are a family-owned winery and vineyard that produce all of their wines from Texas-grown grapes. They offer dry and sweet wines so you are sure to find one that you enjoy!
A trip to Bluff Dale Vineyards will greet you with great views and great wine. Their tasting room has a great, casual vibe and their wines are delicious. My personal favorite is the Nexus wine. YUM!

Wine isn’t the only drink produced in this area. Granbury is also home to a great brewery, Revolver Brewing and a fun distillery, Local Goat Distillery.

Here you can enjoy a craft made cocktail that uses their vodka, gin, or rum as the base. They also offer tours if you are interested in learning more about their production process.
Come and hang out and enjoy a great charcuterie board and a cocktail!

While on the Granbury Square, be sure to stop by Brew Drinkery as well. Brew Drinkery has over 40 craft beers on tap just waiting for you!
In addition to all of these beers, Brew Drinkery also offers wine and coffee selections. They recently opened their “back yard” area, so you have a great place to hang out and enjoy your drink!
Brazos Drive-In
Is there anything more nostalgic than a drive-in theatre? I think not! That is why the Brazos Drive-In has to be on your list of things to do in Granbury, Texas.
Be sure to pile as many as you want into a car as you pay by the carload. Gates are open 1 hour and 15 min before dusk and close 15 minutes after the show begins, so be on time.
They offer fun, family-friendly movies from March thru November.
Railroad Depot Museum
The railroad has always been an important part of not only Granbury’s history but the history of the United States. The Railroad Depot Museum allows you to take a glimpse back in time to when the railroad was a vital asset to Granbury and it’s development.
Granted, this museum is tiny, but it is still worth popping in if you are interested in rail history.
Hood County Jail Museum
Right off of the Granbury Square, you will find the Hood County Jail Museum. This building, which was built in 1885, served as the only jail for the city of Granbury until 1978.
Today, visitors can enjoy touring the museum and seeing all of the great artifacts inside. You can tour the living quarters on the main floor where the deputies lived before going upstairs to view the cells. It is really interesting to see the artifacts that are housed here and to tour the jail cells upstairs.
The museum is open Friday-Sunday from noon until 5:00 pm.
Yeats-Duke 1858 Working Museum
If you will be in Granbury on the weekend, then make plans to visit the Yeats-Duke 1858 Working Museum. Here you can step back in time and see demonstrations from days gone by.
These demonstrations could include rug hooking, spinning, weaving, and even making teddy bears! I mean, that’s not something you see every day!
Restaurants in Granbury
Of course, after all of that shopping and outdoor activity, you need to fill your stomach. Lucky for you, the restaurants in Granbury are top-notch. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite restaurants in Granbury.
Stumpy’s Granbury
People come from all over the metroplex to enjoy the laid-back, waterfront dining at Stumpy’s Granbury.
Best known for their delicious margaritas and to die for sweets, Stumpy’s aims to please. The food here is simple and consistent, yet delicious, and the service is true Texas hospitality. I am a sucker for the fish tacos and Marty can’t seem to pass up the burgers.
Regardless of what we have for our meal, we always save room for dessert, specifically one of the delicious cupcakes.
Miyako
Miyako is our go-to place when we are in the mood for some good sushi or hibachi. Miyako has a great atmosphere, fabulous service, and incredible food.
If we are sitting down for hibachi, you can’t beat their steak and shrimp with fried rice. If you are in the mood for sushi, then check out their extensive fresh sushi selection.
Babe’s Chicken
Located just off of the square, Babe’s Chicken is true southern cooking. Be ready for some delicious fried chicken, pot roast, or catfish when you visit Babe’s.
Don’t expect a menu though as they don’t really have one. You order your main dish, and then the server starts bringing out loads of all you can eat family-style sides including mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans.
Wear your stretchy pants when you come to Babe’s, TRUST ME!
Eighteen Ninety Grill and Lounge
If you are looking for a place to enjoy a nice date night in Granbury, then consider Eighteen Ninety Grill and Lounge. Located directly on the square in Granbury, this restaurant offers up unique appetizers like a crab martini and jalapeno bacon mac and cheese.
For your main dish, you can enjoy a delicious steak, some shrimp and grits, or a pan-seared duck breast just to name a few. Save room for dessert here also and be sure and order their signature banana pudding. You’re welcome.
Farina’s Winery and Cafe
Another great spot on the Granbury Square is Farina’s Winery and Cafe. Farina’s is oozing with charm and character.
Upon entering the restaurant, you immediately see the extensive bar area. This very bar was taken from a bar in Chicago that Al Capone himself was known to frequent and sit at. How cool is that?
If that isn’t enough for you then take note that Farina’s has delicious wine, great cheese plates, and wonderful food. Here you can enjoy your meal inside their beautiful historic building, or out in their fabulous courtyard area.
We loved Farina’s red blend wine and their farmhouse cheese board. Of course, the Italian food and fresh garlic bread were delicious as well!
Fillin’ Station
The Fillin’ Station is another restaurant on the Granbury Square. The name comes from the fact that the building used to be an old Marathon Oil fueling station.
This laid back place is known for its fun hamburgers and delicious milkshakes. Take note though, their burgers are half-pound burgers, so you might want to share.
You can enjoy dining inside or outside while visiting here. If you love car memorabilia, then you probably want to dine inside.
Ketzler’s Schnitzel Haus and Biergarten
When we are in the mood for German food, we head straight to Ketzler’s. This family-owned and operated business is authentic German in every way. From the mouthwatering schnitzel to the giant pretzels, Ketzler’s has your German food cravings covered.
In addition to great food, Ketzler’s has a wide variety of German beer and wine available for you. You can dine inside, out on the front patio, or my personal favorite, out back in the quaint biergarten.
Silver Saddle Saloon
The Silver Saddle Saloon has to be on your list of things to do in Granbury, TX. I mean, they are a self-proclaimed “wild west ice cream barlour”. Yes, you read that right, barlour, not parlor!
Why you might ask?
Well, because they have combined two of my favorite things…ice cream and booze. I love it. Of course, you can get non-boozy ice cream as well.
In addition to the fun ice cream, the Silver Saddle Saloon serves up loads of fun with their events including live music, Two-Step Tuesday, Texas Hold Em’ tournaments and more!
Not only that, they give discounts to military, police/fire/EMT, and city of Granbury and Granbury ISD employees!
Nutshell Eatery and Bakery
The Nutshell prides itself on bringing you home-baked specialties, yummy sandwiches, great breakfast, and delicious burgers all at a reasonable price.
For breakfast, you can enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls, blueberry pancakes, homemade biscuits, eggs, and bacon!
For lunch, enjoy a delicious burger, salad, or sandwich before indulging in some Blue Bell ice cream or one of their homemade desserts.
Be sure and take note of the building itself as well. The Nutshell was built in 1885 in one of the oldest buildings on the Granbury Square.
It is said that John Wilkes Booth lived in the upstairs B&B and worked in the saloon that once occupied the space where The Nutshell now is!

So happy to see so many listings for restaurants, wineries and distilleries :-), but the City Beach Park is a surprise entry to me. I do not always associate Texas with 'beach'.

Granbury looks like a cute little town - but what I find most intriguing is the City Beach Park. Especially in the Texan heat, this must be a more than welcome oasis. Also the shopping options look quite tempting...
