Cabins in Canton, Texas- The Silver Spur Resort
Arriving at The Silver Spur Resort
Is there anything better than escaping your daily routine? I mean, it could be as simple as enjoying a fun outing with friends, or getting away for a relaxing couples weekend like we did. Regardless, just getting away to recharge and rest is often exactly what we need.
I know that our visit to Silver Spur Resort came at just the right time to allow us to do exactly that—Rest and Recharge! We couldn’t wait for our stay in the cabins in Canton, Texas!
Canton is a great little getaway and one of the easy road trips in Texas. Upon arriving at the Silver Spur Resort, I could immediately tell that we were in for a treat. The property has this cute “old west” feel that seemed to give us a big fat Texas welcome.
Guests check in at the General Store, and stepping inside, I could see that this was much more than a reception area. The General Store offered everything that you could possibly need for a great stay at the resort.
Forget your toothbrush? Don’t worry, they have that.
Need some ice? Don’t worry, they have that too.
Want some wine to enjoy by the fire? Oh, yes, they have that also. Matter of fact, they are the sole distributor in Canton of Miranda Lambert’s Red 55 Wine!
I mean, seriously, this General Store had it all! They even had a little sitting area where guests could come to drink coffee and play board games (games also provided).
After providing us with the key to our cabin, the staff took time to tell us about the amenities offered on the resort. In addition, they provided us with information about Canton trade days, and made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay.
They were truly so genuine and kind. We were definitely off to a good start!
Accommodations at The Silver Spur Resort
Cabins in Canton, Texas at the Silver Spur
There are several different accommodation types to choose from at the Silver Spur. Since they are a KOA Campground, they offer complete RV sites, tiny houses, cabins, and a large main ranch house for guests to choose from. They even offer covered wagon camping!
Marty and I were booked in one of the deluxe cabins named the “Cozy Cabin”. A little driveway leads you away from the General Store to the area where the cabin are located. We were so excited to see that our cabin faced the fishing pond that is on property.
Upon entering the cabin, we were with a nice open area that contained a small kitchenette (complete with full-size refrigerator, sink, microwave, and coffee maker), a cut little dining table, and a good size sitting area. The sitting area contained a couch and a set of bunk beds so those of you with kids can also enjoy these cabins in Canton, Texas!
Off the sitting area we found the master bedroom with a king size bed and a good size closet. Of course, I immediately flopped down on the bed. It was so comfortable and the linens felt amazing.
The bathroom was off the kitchen area and contained everything we needed for our stay. There was a good size shower/tub combo, plenty of fluffy towels, soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer.
Granted, the inside of our cabin was great, but it was the outside area that I fell in love with. Sliding glass door off the sitting area led us out onto a large covered deck overlooking the pond. At the bottom of the deck was a second sitting area with a patio table, bbq grill, and a fire pit!
I assure you we took complete advantage of this outdoor area. I might have enjoyed a glass of wine or two out here during out stay ;).
Canton KOA and So Much More
As we mentioned above, the Silver Spur resort not only offers the best cabins in Canton, Texas, but they also offer additional accommodations, all located just minutes from the famous Canton trade days.
The Resort’s Ranch House, “Durham’s Roost”, is a 5 bedroom 4 bath home that is perfect for a large group. This house enjoys great views from the highest point on the resort’s property. Complete with comfy beds, a private bathroom in each room, and a 32” tv with Dish, your group will feel right at home here.
In addition to the cabins that we stayed in, The Silver Spur also has several tiny houses to choose from. The tiny houses are cute 24’ houses with a sleeping loft boasting a queen-size bed, a full bathroom, kitchenette, and breakfast area.
Not only can you view and stay in their tiny houses, but they will build one for you as well. Just ask!
The most recent addition to the property is their Conestoga Wagons. Guests can enjoy a true glamping experience staying in these cool wagons!
The resort, which also includes the Canton KOA, has camping space for over 100! Bring your RV and find the best spot to park and call home for your time here. We found that several of the RV spots included fire pits and lawn furniture!
Future expansions will also include the addition of several tree houses! Another reason that we will be back!
Amenities at The Silver Spur Resort
After sleeping for over nine hours straight…yes, you read that correctly. I slept for over nine hours! The bed was just so comfortable and it was nice and quiet on the resort. I guess I was tired!
Anyway, after sleeping for over nine hours, Marty and I enjoyed some coffee on the deck before starting our day. We decided that today would be spent touring the resort and checking out all of their amenities.
The Resort Grounds
Of course, we started our day with a photo shoot. We found cute places all over the property to capture some fun photos.
There was a kissing booth, a cute water feature, some interesting bridges, and of course, the pond. Guests can fish in the pond as long as you release the fish back into its habitat. There are also paddle boats that you can rent!
Upon touring the property, we discovered they have two fishing ponds, a pool, and a basketball court. There are also loads of outdoor games to enjoy like Cornhole, outdoor checkers, and outdoor Jenga.
The Resort Wedding Facility
The Barn at the Silver Spur Resort is the ideal place for a stylish Texas wedding. The space is large but cozy at the same time, and the special touches in the décor make the barn feel dreamy.
I especially love how the light came through the little holes in the barn doors. It gave the appears of tiny stars!
If you prefer an outdoor ceremony, the Silver Spur can accommodate that as well. They have created a space out by the pond that is shaded by the large oak trees, perfect for saying “I Do”.
The Resort offers several wedding packages and can accommodate your special requests. If you’re in the market for a wedding venue, you should definitely give them a call.
The Escape Rooms
We were so surprised to find that the Silver Spur Resort has not one, but two escape rooms on property. These real-life strategy puzzles challenge your brainpower and your ability to work as a team. Guests can choose from two different themed rooms, The Apocalypse or The Treasure Hunter Room.
Unfortunately, time did not allow us to enjoy the Escape Rooms during our stay, but you can bet that we will try them on our next visit!
Q and Brew Restaurant
In addition to all of the other great amenities here at Silver Spur Resort, they also offer an outstanding restaurant. Everyone knows that Texans love their BBQ, so of course, Q and Brew is serving up that and so much more.
Honestly, I could not wait to try the food here since the delicious smells coming from The Smokehouse permeated the property, teasing us all day.
We started our meal with the “Cowboy Stuffers”, fresh jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and brisket, wrapped in bacon and deep-fried in panko seasoning. They were incredible!
For our main dish, Marty chose a 2 meat platter, opting for jalapeno sausage and brisket. For side he went for the smoked cheddar macaroni and cheese and the truffle French fries.
Having the pleasure of visiting on a weekend, we discovered that Q and Brew were not only serving their normal menu of fabulous BBQ, but they were also offering fresh grilled steaks and pork chops. Of course, I had to have the steak!
I made my way outside and met the Chef and watched him grill up my freshly cut 100% USDA Choice Beef steak. You can see our “behind the scenes” tour of the Smokehouse and our talk with @chefdeezy13 on our Instagram. Just go to our “Texas” story highlights.
All of our food was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Paired with one of their craft beers, or in Marty’s case, a craft root beer, this was a meal for the books!
Brewery at The Silver Spur Resort
Speaking of pairing my food with their beer, Silver Spur also boast the first and only craft brewery in Van Zandt County right on site.
We had the joy of meeting the brewmaster, Garrett, and doing a tour with him. Garrett taught us all about the beer-making process while showing us his equipment. After the tour, we sat down with Garrett and enjoyed a flight to sample all of his fabulous beers.
Our flight consisted of five beers: Peach Wheat, Orange Creamsicle, Bavarian Hefeweizen, Mexican Stout, and the rotating tap an ice cold root beer.
While all of the beers were delicious, I especially love the peach wheat and the hefe. Marty enjoyed the Hefe and the orange creamsicle the most.
Garrett explained to us how he loves trying new and unique flavor profiles in his beer. He recently made cookies and cream beer that we will definitely be going back for when he serves up the next batch!

The grounds were immaculately clean and all of the amenities offered at Silver Spur Resort delighted us. These little cabins in Canton, Texas were great! Honestly, you really don’t have to leave the property if you don’t want to.
