7 Wineries in Fredericksburg, TX Not to Miss

1.  Fiesta Winery 290

Fiesta Winery

If you read my Mardi Gras Wine Trail post, then you know that I love the Fiesta Winery and Vineyard in Bend, Texas.  Well, Fiesta Winery 290 serves the same delicious wines, just with a different atmosphere.  Fiesta Winery 290 consists of a charming tasting room, great outdoor seating, and live music.  It’s a fun place to grab a bottle, sit back in a rocking chair, and enjoy some Texas wine and music.

My Fiesta wine choice(s): Back Porch Sittin’, Savannah Rose

2.  Becker Vineyards

Becker Vineyards is a gorgeous place to spend the afternoon.  Located just outside of Fredericksburg, this vineyard will not disappoint.  They have a nice indoor tasting room, but you should really plan on spending your time outside.  Becker has a huge outdoor seating area that overlooks their lavender and wildflower fields.

My Becker Vineyard wine choice(s): Texas Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewurztraminer

3.  Grape Creek Vineyards and Trattoria

Grape Creek Vineyards is one of the Fredericksburg Vineyards to visit

Grape Creek Vineyards is located right on Hwy 290 just east of Fredericksburg.  If you are planning on visiting on a Saturday or holiday, plan ahead as Grape Creek is very popular and gets crowded.  Grape Creek is set on 100 luscious acres, so the vineyards literally surround you!  Their tasting room makes you feel like you have been transported to Italy. (I should know, I have been there.)  I love all of the beautiful wine related items for sale in their shop and usually find myself browsing for a long time.  After tasting their wines, grab yourself a bottle and head out to the beautiful patio to enjoy a great wood fired pizza!

My Grape Creek Wine choice(s): Cabernet Trois, Riesling

4.  Messina Hof Hill County Winery

Messina Hof Hill Country Winery is another one of my personal favorites.  They produce a wide variety of wine, so there is something for any wine lover.  The Hill Country location has a great tasting room with nice outdoor patios and beautiful little wine cottages out back.

I haven’t stayed in one yet, but I would love to!  Marty and I usually spend a few extra hours just hanging out at Messina Hof.

My Messina Hof wine choices:  Private Reserve Reflections of Love, Angel Riesling

5.  Torre Di Pietra Winery

Torre Di Pietra is located 10 miles east of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290.  Visiting Torre Di Pietra makes you feel like you have stepped into an enchanted garden.  Not only are you in a beautiful vineyard, but the patios at Torre Di Pieta are surrounded by roses. Inside, you can taste a variety of delicious wines and wine-infused chocolates!  Does it get any better than chocolate and wine?

My Torre Di Pietra wine choices: Montepulciano, Dirty Girl

6.  4.0 Cellars

Pronounced “Four Point” Cellars, this winery represent three wineries in Texas: Brennan Vineyards, Lost Oak Winery, and McPherson Cellars.  A visit here is an opportunity to sample wines from each of these three Texas wineries, as well as a family operated cheese shop, Veldhuizen Cheese.  4.0 Cellars hosts many events, including live music and food trucks.  Be sure to stop by on your next visit to Fredericksburg.

My 4.0 Cellars wine choices:  La Diosa Cellars Sangria by McPherson, Brennan Vineyard’s Winemaker’s Choice, and Lost Oak’s Dolce Rouge

7.  Fat Ass Ranch and Winery

With a name like “Fat Ass”, how can you not be intrigued enough to visit this Texas winery?  This fun loving winery is a great place to relax and let your hair down.  Their laid back atmosphere and fun gifts will have you feeling like a “fat ass” in no time. Be sure and taste some of their unique flavors like Prickly Pear JalaRaspberry Peno or watermelon.

My Fat Ass Wine choices: Peach (I love Peach anything!), Sangria Blanco
