I could not make a list of romantic getaways in the Lone Star State and not include Wimberley. I mean, it is one of the small Texas towns we love.
Known as an artist community, Wimberley’s slogan is ‘keep Wimberley weirder’, playing on their neighbor Austin’s ‘keep Austin weird’ slogan. Personally, I feel like Wimberley is the perfect Texas Hill Country town.
Couples can come here and escape from everything if they choose to do so. Find yourself a little cabin in the woods with a hot tub and don’t come out until you have to! Now that sounds romantic to me.
For those couples who want to get out a little, you will find plenty of things to do in Wimberley to keep you busy.
You can visit the many wineries and distilleries that surround this cute community, swim in Jacob’s Well, or shop on the Wimberley square. If that isn’t enough for you, you are within an easy drive to San Antonio, Fredericksburg, or Austin.

Boerne
Another hill country town making our list is Boerne. Boerne is a cute little Texas town stuck right in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, about 40 minutes outside of San Antonio.
Couples visiting Boerne will love spending time shopping along Boerne’s main street. You can also visit one of the many museums in the area if you are so interested.
The Kuhlmann-King Historic House is one of these and is open for tours on the second Saturday of every month.
Boerne is also known for its outdoor recreational activities. There are three golf courses close by, two horseback riding facilities, and numerous parks and trails to explore.
Of course, like all hill country towns, Boerne is also within close proximity to several wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Including one of my personal favorites, Sister Creek Vineyards.
Salado
The cute little village of Salado makes for the perfect romantic weekend getaway in Texas.
Here you will find eclectic shops, wineries, boutiques, and fun eateries to keep you entertained. This artisan community is not short on style either. Salado hosts events throughout the year to celebrate the rich heritage of this small town.
Visitors will find themselves immersed in a small artistic community that also loves its antique shops.
You and your loved one can spend the day shopping and watching a glass blowing demonstration before visiting the many wine bars and breweries that call the town home.
For dinner, you might want to consider the historic Stagecoach Inn, which was recently bought and renovated.
This cute little town is just what you need if you are looking for a nice quiet retreat away with your loved one.
Bandera
For those couples looking for a cowboy experience on their romantic Texas getaway, then Bandera is exactly where you want to be!

After spending the day escaping the Texas heat by floating the Guadalupe River, you can catch an evening performance at Gruene Hall. Gruene Hall, built in 1878, is the Lone Star State’s oldest continually operating dance hall is a great way to spend some time with your honey while visiting this Texas town.
